Hello! Welcome
I’m Mae, the one who spends 90% of her time behind the camera! I felt I would jump in front of it for a change and to give you an insight into who I am.
Photography has been a part of my life from when I was a child, growing up in the countryside with a camera always in my hand. It became my obsessional hobby, something that filled my after school free time and weekends.
It wasn’t until college, where my passion for photography really began to flourish, as did seeing the world through my lens. I furthered my education by attending Film School, which took a much closer look into the technicalities of bringing real life onto screen, how to visually create a story from your subject. The experience and knowledge I gained was paramount, however, I just couldn’t shift the feeling that something was missing. Film, whilst exciting in the moment, was a different medium of storytelling, a vaster world with many moving parts. I personally missed the purity of a single moment captured, something I’d experienced daily when it was just me and my camera.
It was in that moment, when the penny finally dropped that I realised photography was the path I wanted to pursue. After many late nights in front of my laptop, countless trial and errors and a whole heap of love and support from friends and family, Mae Rose Photography was finally born. I couldn’t feel more grateful to call this my career. I enjoy my work every day, from the people I get to meet to the stories that they share and above it all, I get to create pieces of artwork that tell the story of you and the ones you love.
Why Mae Rose Photography?
The world of photography is vast and there are countless photographers, each with their own style, experience, and approach. Some may have more years behind the camera, have larger followings or different facilities and some may offer an array of unique extras; but what sets Mae Rose Photography apart isn’t just technical skill or equipment, it’s the heart and intention behind everything I do.
Mae Rose Photography was born from a conversation with my mother during a time when I felt creatively unfulfilled. With just an old DSLR camera and a laptop barely able to handle RAW files, I was told to stop waiting for the perfect opportunity and create it myself. That advice became the foundation for everything I do, to capture moments with care, creativity, and intention, no matter the circumstances.
Each shoot is an opportunity to celebrate your uniqueness, to create photographs that are more than just images, they’re pieces of art that will transport you back to those moments for years to come.
Photography, like any creative pursuit, is a journey without a final destination. There is always more to learn, more to see, and more ways to capture the perfect moment. This mindset drives me to continuously refine my craft, ensuring every session is approached with fresh ideas, passion, and care.
